Government of Nepal started issuing ID cards to NRNs
The Nepal government has started issuing identity cards to Non-resident Nepalis (NRNs) from Monday. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sujata Koirala, formally launched the drive, handing over the ID card to the president of NRN Association, Dev Man Hirachan amid a programme organised at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The move is aimed at easing visa processing for NRNs and ensuring their wider participation in development and economic activities in Nepal. NRNs can obtain the ID cards from MoFA and Nepali diplomatic missions abroad. Speaking at the programme, DPM Koirala expressed hope that formal identification would encourage NRNs to contribute more to Nepal's economic and development sectors. Likewise, NRNA president Hirachan said that the launching of ID cards to NRNs has sent a positive message to the Nepali diaspora and that the NRNs would now feel more responsibility towards Nepal.
